Hot Flow Intro | B

This class is taught by:

Luisa Caruso

Luisa is a registered Yoga Alliance teacher, she graduated from Prana Yoga College in Vancouver in 2009. She started practicing as a result of a drawn out battle with depression and anxiety and began seeking alternative therapies to support growth as well as emotional and physical wellness. Since studying out west she continued her yoga practice with many Iyanger, Ashtanga, Restorative and Yin inspired teachers, she is currently studying Ayurveda.

Luisa has been practicing yoga since 2006 and has accumulated over 500 hours of both teaching and studying experience, she is also a certifed Reiki Master Practitioner and Teacher. Luisa has a passion for social justice and activism and is currently pursuing her apprenticeship in Child and Youth Work, she believes that her yoga practice has nurtured and supported these passions. Luisa teaches both Flow and Yin classes, with specific emphasis on breathing and awareness of the patterened habits of the mind and body. In her classes you will create both strength and flexibility in balance, combining controlled movement, deep stretch and a good laugh.

Luisa's favorite posture is Adho Mukha Svanasana (Wild Thing / Flip Dog). Letting go and dropping back into the unknown, opening the heart while cultivating strength in the arms.

Anwar Qureshi

Anwar found yoga in 2006 after realizing an active youth had given way to less healthy habits as he aged. Determined to regain his healthy lifestyle, he was drawn to yoga for it's fitness component, which works as one of the best cross trainers for many athletic endeavours. After practicing casually for two years Anwar found it was the mental and emotional benefits that kept him coming back to his mat.

With the new found depth to his practice, Anwar began practicing more seriously and completed his 200 Hour Teacher Training Certification at De La Sol in 2011 and is now teaching yoga full time. Anwar has taught with Yoga Rocks, a yoga program that brings yoga to high school boy's gym classes.

It is the combination and balance between the physical and mental that led Anwar to reorient his life towards practicing and teaching yoga. His favourite pose embodies these qualities, Adho Mukha Vrksasana (Handstand), which requires both focus and strength.

Alaina Evans

As a competitive dancer throughout her childhood and teenage years, Alaina first came to yoga as a way to stay fit and flexible as she came into adulthood. Soon after beginning to practice she realized that there was so much more to yoga than the physical postures. She began to notice how she was able to cope with stressful situations and felt more balanced in her everyday life. Alaina loves the physical, mental and spiritual connection that yoga marries. She loves to challenge herself physically while working to maintain a calm breath and calm mind in her practice and loves to bring this to her teaching as well. She graduated from De La Sol 200 YTT program and immediately began teaching. She has also been certified in Prenatal and Children's Yoga. She is so excited to be able to share her passion for the practice with others.
Her favourite pose is Garudasana (Eagle Pose) as she loves the feeling of fresh prana and energy flowing through the body after restricting the flow in the pose.

Steve Ferrell

Steve found his pathway to Yoga as a bodybuilder and personal trainer who was always feeling tight, sore and looking for “more” out of his physical workouts. Steve tried his first class with Hamilton’s Alex Bovkis and immediatley fell in love. Within 3 months Steve was enrolled in his first 200hr Teacher Training with Heather Greaves. Steve was certified through Integrative Yoga Therapy (IYT), a style founded by renowned Yoga therapist, Joseph LePage. Steve found his way to De La Sol where he immediately fell in love with the fluidity, strength and meditative qualities of the Ashtanga Vinyasa practice. Steve is always learning, and combined with his interests in Human Anatomy, Ayruveda and Buddhist Meditation, he continues to deepen his practice. He offers a challenging, invigorating but very quirky and light hearted class, blending the physical with an emphasis on the mental and spiritual facets of the practice.
Learn the fundamentals of a vinyasa style practice, where movement is linked with breath. Expect to sweat in this class geared to those new to yoga practice. A general level of fitness is recommended.
